I used the SB800 flash with the plastic difuser on it set to -1/3 EV exposure. On the camera itself I shot it as a large jpeg to conserve space on my memory card (yeah I need more space or at least the ability to dump the pictures onto another device when I'm shooting - then I can shoot raw all the time). I used the 18-70mm lens at 22mm focal length - f4 and iso 200. Flash sync was set to front curtain. And I used Ia color mode.
I was in a bit of a hurry as they were trying to clear the floor when I took it so I'm kinda surprised it turned out so well. But there you go.
Great thanks! Any particular reason for the -1/3ev on the flash and the F4 aperture? Was it full manual, program etc?
I don't have a 22mm lens (or zoom with that option) only a 20mm lens... never really became too friendly with it (prolly due to the perspective, even on a digital) but since I brought it with me I guess I will use it a bit more... see what happens :)
I had tested the flash on a previous shot and it seemed a little too bright for that environment so I dropped it down a tad. As for the F4, I had been shooting aperture priority but for this shot I set it to full auto - started fully zoomed out (18mm) zoomed in a little to frame the shot and clicked it off. It ended up being shot at 22mm which I guess would technically be 33mm. Again, I was in a bit of a rush as the organizers of the competition were shooing us off the floor. I really would have liked to take some time to really set the shot up and take a few more pics but had to settle for just hurriedly throwing together a shot of the girls with their trophy before everyone had to leave the area. I was pleasantly surprised by the results though. It did turn out pretty nice.

Nice picture! Care to share details on it? Flash, exposure etc...

Very excellent, thanks for the info...
Neat how digital let's you review (then change settings like flash compensation) on the fly eh? ;)
